EPA (eicosapentaenoic) is a member of the family of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids, more commonly known as polyunsaturated fatty acids. This fatty acid is present in fatty fish and in certain microalgae. Like DHA, its synthesis from ALA (alpha-linoleic acid, present in plants such as flax, capelin and rapeseed) is very low, hence the interest in EPA supplementation.
Where to find it?
EPA can be found in different forms. EPA is naturally present in fish such as anchovies, mackerel, sardines and herring. It is also found in fish oils or powders and microalgae. It can easily be incorporated into various types of products:
- Food supplements: softgels, capsules, tablets, syrup, gummies, stick of powders to be diluted…
